the guy who drilled my tank said a one inch bulkhead kit was fine for my 72g bow front but I read that I should have 1 1/2 bulk head and he already drilled should I do another one or am I ok

Are you only drilling 1 hole? Do you have a plan for overflow box or anything like that. 1" is minimum, I would go bigger if possible but at this point I don't know what size pump what size sump or what your goals are as far as what kind of life you want to keep in your tank. All of this makes a difference on what you need

well I have a 10 gallon sump pump ill get what ever I need I may down the line turn my 20g into my new sump I have mostly soft corals, and lps, and I enjoy having fish so it will be a mixed reef tank right now I have an over stocked 20g with the 10g sump and I will be moving everything from on to the other my only problem is dude had already drilled

Check out glass-holes. Com's overflow kits. Maybe use the 1" for a return. Might be able to drill over the existing hole. 1" sound pretty small. Is your return pump slow? 1 1/2" would have a harder time clogging.

1" Overflow is fine for that tank. But if he only drilled a 1" hole, its not for a 1" Bulkhead.
The 1" would acommodate 600-900gph depending on the elbows, and such.

1" is definitely fine, 1 1/2" would be a bit much on that size tank.

I use 1" bulkheads for both overflow and returns on my 100G mixed reef with a Water Blaster HY-5000 return pump and never had any problems in 9 years of use.
