Just hit 6 months on first nano reef. Other than algea and losing a blasto to a hungry hermit crab and xenia melting I have had no other casualties.

can try increasing your clean up crew as well!

Drop an urchin in there and GHA will be gone. And smart move to avoid chemical bandaid fixes.

I have 3 hermits a peppermint and nbanded coral shrimp. lawnmower blenny. And an astrea snail. They can't keep up. And no the peppermint and banded coral don't fight lol.

more hermits, more snails.

i recommend cerith snails, and trochus snails. astrea snails are beasts when it comes to algae, and when they get bigger being eating different types (from what i read)

I don't want to irradicate completely cause I want the blenny to have natural food.

the blenny wont go for the longer strands of algae, but the shorter stands. this is the case for the hermits and even snails. what you see will continue to grow because nothing you have in the tank wants to eat it.

the algae blenny should be able to eat frozen/pellet foods as well.

Yeah I just removed a ton of the longer algea also forgot to post zoas with the pictures.

Load up on different snails and reef safe hermits

You’re lacking a good CUC
* variety is key
That’s a lot of algae don’t worry about natural food you will have some
