just one test kit

Can I just use a Alk test kit? I always use BRS 2 part.Alk & Cal..My test kits are getting low. I'm asking because You have to add equal amounts of 2 part anyways.

I use both. I test ALK and add it daily. Calcium changes slower and I measure it once per week. I tend to add calcium about once per week just a larger amount. The total added of each is pretty near the same.

You'll likely want to occasionally check calcium, but the alk test is most important.

A lot of the threads I read.Even when Cal is a little high,they still say to add equal amounts of Alk and Cal of my BRS 2 part.

I designed that two part, and I would dose both equally unless calcium actually was already too high, or was too low and needed a correction.

If you start with normal IO salt mix, calcium might start low and need a boost.
