Just ordered 6 gorgonians from KP Aquatics

I just ordered 6 gorgs from KP Aquatics. I have always wanted to order from these guys. I have a 180g mixed reef that had a little of everything, but softies are my favorite. I'll post some pictures when they come in.

I ordered 6 gorgonians from KP Aquatics, but the sent 7! They just gave me a full size double of the Yellow Sea Whip. All were quite large, most larger than the medium sizes they listed. I put them in this evening so hopefully they settle in and polyps extend tomorrow. I would recommend ordering from these guys if you are considering.

Those look great! How did you anchor them down and do you have any issues with your flow? I have a large purple gorgonian (maybe 18 inches long). I've had it for about 6 months and it seems to be doing well, but it's half on its side due to flow, and I probably didn't mount it well.

Most I will anchor to rockwork or a small rock then put in the sand. I had one gorg before these and it blows around too in certain spots. As long as its not too crazy flow or blowing into other corals then I dont mind. I think most gorgs handle flow quite well un their natural environment.

I've been ordering from KP Aquatics for many years. They always supply high quality animals. The yellow finger gorg is non-photosynthetic and must be fed. They do not like strong flow. I've always had bad luck with the green lace gorg. They tend to have algae grow on the branches that must be rubbed off. In time, the algae smothers the gorg. The others are photosynthetic and can handle any light. My ten year old ribbon routinely sheds so if it looks ratty for a few days, don't worry. The mistake that a lot of people make is giving too much flow. If they blow over, the current is too strong. Good luck.

Keep the nps in a low light area to avoid algae overgrowth. The nps ones really don't do well once they get overgrown. And make sure they get fed!

Thanks. The NPS will be more challenging but hopefully things will go well. It hasn't had much polyp extension yet so I moved it to lower flow.

Good to know about the green lace. You have a pic of the 10 year old ribbon? Guessing that looks awesome with 10 years of growth.

Not to hijack your thread— just sharing. I bought my gorgonians from kp about 13-14 months ago. Don’t know if I’d say I’ve gotten significant growth, but there are 4 different ones in my tank and I think they help add depth and movement to a tank. The green lace is the one next to the clam ( on the right of it). Their pic doesn’t do it justice! (Pics added in case you want to see). Congrats on buying the gorgonians, I don’t feel like I see them very commonly.
