So what's the newest info on these pumps? I got one(not here yet) with the new controller and am wondering how the new controllers and pumps have been working for folks. Any issues with them or are they totally awesome? :)

Not really interested in how the older versions are working but feel free to post those reveiws as well.

Everyone seems real happy with them. I have the wp25 and I am in my third controller. Mine seems to be the exception though. I have only one in a std 55 and it is enough flow but I am going to add another one. I would like to alternate them every 6 hours.

Where did you get your second and third controllers from, and how much did it cost ya, if you don't mind my asking?

I have a wp40. And will be getting a wp25. When i ordered my 40 i also got a voltage regulator to control the pump speed. It was only $10. The controller only allows w1 mode to have pump speed lowered. I have heard of this part going as well. But you can also use a laptop transformer as a replacement.

I have seen controllers on ebay for around $20. But you can also ditch the controller and use it on the apex reef controller if you have one.

I bought them from other hobbyist that were using the pumps on a apex.

I have a wp25 on the way, and am curious about the process of lowering the voltage using a laptop charger (or whatever it is that is done) - could someone please explain this process, and remember a picture is worth a thousand words!

Thanks

Can not speak of every laptop transformer. But they can be used to replace the transformer that comes with the wp pumps. The transformer goes between the wall and the controller. You can buy an aftermarket transformer that has adjustable voltage slide on the side. These are sold for replacements for several electronic devices. Since not all devices use the same voltage they made a unit to adjust. The unit will replace the standard transformer of the wp unit. The standard unit has a set voltage. The adjustable one you slide the voltage amount which is being sent to the pump. A lower voltage means lower speed on the pump. A standard laptop transformer may have a set voltage and can not be adjusted. It will work to replace your units if it gets faulty. An adjustable transformer is available many places. I got mine when i ordered the pump from fish street in china it took a few weeks to get here with pump.
