I've been a lurker here for about a year. My usual haunt is on another large reefkeeping website but I thought I get involved here as well. Anything to distract me from actually working.
I've been in the hobby since around 1998 and have been through several different types of tanks ranging from my first nightmare, a 55 gallon breeder sitting on a coffee table to a 90 gallon with a Jaubert plenum, a 29 gallon bowfront, and now, my current leemar rimless 110.
The current setup runs with three tunze 6095's, an MP40, eshoppes sump, 10 gallon fuge, Geo Ca Reactor, and 2x250 DE Halides and 2x54 watt T5 actinics. Everything is controlled by an Apex. The current build has been up since March 31 and appears to be doing quite well. I'm primarily focused on SPS but will try anything that looks interesting. I'm not a 'collector' so I don't worry too much about names but rather appearances (this probably makes me a little shallow).
My philosophy is to keep things as simple as possible. My filtration is a RO NWB 200 and live rock. I don't typically run carbon and I try to avoid things like media reactors, carbon dosing, etc. I generally also try to avoid any supplements unless I can test for them. I also try to keep a light fish load.
