How do i know if my phosphates are actually 0? My first and second test with the hanna checker read 0.00. I did get ppm instead of the ulr hanna phosphate checker on accident... I havent checked nitrates in a while bc i lost the test kit.

I have the Hanna ULR test and even that test is just sensitive enough. If you are doing acropora corals, the ULR test is just sensitive enough. The other testers will read 0, when there is some phosphate.

Did you hold the button down for C2 until the 3 minute timer came on?

Is it worth getting the ulr? Sps is a goal ive set for my self

If you have the regular hanna phosphate test (not the ULR), then a zero reading can be +/- to around 0.04 by the tolerances...If I recall correctly. So, you probably still have some available in the system. I used to have that tester and it worked well. But, my levels were initially so low, that I needed the ULR tester to find out exactly how much phosphate I had in the system.

Maybe I misunderstood. Do you have the Phosphate ULR ppm HHI774? If not, then yes you would need the ULR verion. They come in both ppm (HI774) and ppb (HI736). Either would suit your need. I use the ppm version so I don't have to do the conversion.

How many different checkers are there? on the front is says ppm & phosphate, on the back and reagent pack it says HI713-0.

There are 3 all together, the version you have is for the higher end and won't be able to give the lower readings that most people need. If you plan on keeping SPS or other sensitive species I would suggest getting one of the ULR versions that I listed above.

I see now. Thanks for explaining
