I just added Dr.Tims quick start yesterday along with the 100 drops of Ammonia for my Nuvo 25 (fishless) . Today I tested and got Ammonia 1ppm, Nitrite 5ppm, and Nitrate 10ppm. My main question is when/should I add more Ammonia drops in the future to keep the cycle going? Also when will I know the water is safe for fish?
-Thanks

A series of weekly water tests will determine the direction the tank is in. You may want to add a couple of mollies which allow you to feed and have them produce waste to establish the process

The best advice is watch the dr. Tim’s video on bacteria. Summary. Raise the temp. only dose up too 2ppm if you over do can stall the cycle with too many nitrites. I would still wait 25-30 days with a dry cycle. Then Start with a small cuc.

I needed some insight on my tank i started a few months ago. I am through all the cycle phases and I only have the chicken pox looking corraline algea on the under side of my live rock. Is this a lighting issue? I have never had trouble with the corraline algea not taking off by now

More info on your setup and materials used are needed. It is unlikely your tank is processing ammonia to nitrite to nitrate after one day.

My tank is a few months too. If you used dry rock. You need to seed it. Maintain stable parameters and. I would rather not have it!!!

When you can process 2ppm ammonia to zero in 24hrs, then you should be ready. Best to give it time. Wait until your ammonia is zero then try to dose again and see if you can get it to zero in 24hrs.

Checks my Parameters again after 3 days here's the results- Ammonia .5
Nitrite 5, Nitrate 20.

People will tell you not to test for 3 weeks. Google false positive api ammonia. You will also show trates if you have trites or vice versa I don’t remember.

A positive nitrite reading will also show positive for nitrates. Apparently the nitrate kits actually convert a specific fraction of nitrate to nitrite, because nitrite is easier to test for.

I just finished my cycle about 1 week ago. I started it on December 22nd.

I added quite a bit of turbo start, a Seachem product that contains nitrifying bacteria. And 1 bottle of Dr.Tim’s.

I did start with Nutrisea water that apparently has bacteria in it already. This seemed to help.
