Just watched BRS Epsiode #19 on T5's...

After watching this, they clearly make some very good points. I know several people have started to combine LED and T5's. By doing this, is it primarily for color? Growth? What does one gain by creating that hybrid light source?

On the episode they said more even coverage...some LEDS tend to grow corals in weird patterns

I did gather that, but since LED's are the primary source, I wasn't sure if the T5's just cleaned up the coverage, or if they provided something LED's don't.

No I think they said it's just the coverage which makes sense...I had the Kessil 360we I should've added T5 for better coverage...now I have MH/t5 combo

In fact, at @revhtree I think these videos should be a sticky some where, they really do a good job. Obviously they only talk about the products they sell, but in general their information is top notch.

I just ordered an 8 x 80 ATI to replace my LEDs. I had the issue where my Ocean Revives kept losing spectrum and burning out over time. This caused a huge loss of SPS before I realized what was happening. I plan on making a light bar from the OR lights to supplement the ATI over a 225.

Also some LED lights might have no UV output or are very poor at it.
