Hey everyone, so i found this small tank that someone abandoned, so i thought i would make a beautiful pico reef tank.....this little guy is a whopping 2 gallons, and is going to be a strictly only higher end, bright, colorful, amazing zoas and palys only! I plan on just using some of my sand from my existing 75 Gallon mixed reef, that is right at 2 years old and plumbing it straight into my sump off my 75 Gallon....
Pico Reef Tank Equipment:
What I've accomplished so far is just cleaned the Pico very well, started messing with the plumbing a little, and did my aquascape tonight! So far thats all the progress i have made but i wanted to def start my build thread! When i get further along, of course i will def add more pics and keep building onto my build! Im very excited about this Pico because, well, ive never had a Pico reef! It was really fun doing this Aquascape tonight!! I was trying to go with a minimalistic feel as far as to how much rock actually touch the bottom! ive managed to only had 3 places where the rocks actually touch the bottom and was trying to make it only one spot where the rock touched the bottom, the rest are suspended rocks, glued carefully together in as natural as i could make it, while drawing a tic tac toe board on the front of my pico to respect the rule of thirds! Thanks for checking it out and cant wait to progress on this awesome 1st Pico of mine!!!!!!
P.S. The pictures really dont do the scape any justice! in person the aquascape looks awesome! but im guessing when i put a black background on the back of my pico and sand and water it will help the aquascape stand out! but hopefully, enjoy following my build!
Pico Reef Tank Equipment:
- 2 Gallon square acrylic tank
- Rock used from a curing station of mine for aquascape...just took one 4 pound rock, busted it into alot of small cool pieces, and started scaping.
- Using very little sand from my existing 75 gallon mixed reef
- After plumbing into my return, for flow and filtration, i will be making a DIY hob overflow box to go back into my 20 gallon long custom sump.
- Lights will be a combination of ATI blue plus t5 fixture and some Kessil LEDS
- My pico will not have any fish at all. In my 75 gallon, alot of my snails have had soooo many babies, so i will probably start collecting them up, which in itself , would take a few days there are so many, and use those as a clean up crew!
- My 2 gallon Pico reef will be a high end/bright/colorful/attractive/jaw dropping Zoa and Paly Pico only.
