I was just 'gifted' with a juvenile Koran angel. He's been in a mixed reef for about a month and hasn't nipped at anything, so I agreed to take him (at least for a little while).

He's not too big - maybe 2.5" or so - but I have 0 experience with angels outside of coral beauties.

How long before I need to find him a new home? Should I start looking immediately? He's quite pretty to look at, and if he's not nipping at my clam or corals, I don't mind keeping him for a few months.
I know these guys get huge, and it's not a matter of if he'll start chowing down, but when, so my question is how quickly do they grow, and at what point would it be stressful to be in a 40g tank?

Oh, and if it's relevant, the only fish I have in the tank currently are a leopard wrasse, a pair of true percs, and a little clown goby. It's mostly LPS and softies, but I do have some SPS, and a large squamosa clam.

They are hit or miss in regards to corals. I believe it's already going to be stressed somewhat with a 40G. I'd start looking now. In the mean time, keep him fat and happy so he won't change his mindo_O

Start looking now, so that if a problem develops it can be dealt with.

Sps are usually pretty safe, fleshy LPS is more of a risk.

Juvie korans are quite beautiful, and don't grow that quickly.
