Juvenile anemone or starfish? Something else entirely?

Please excuse the poor resolution in the photos. These objects are maybe a few millimeters across at most, and thus are difficult to photograph.

These little critters have been appearing on my glass each day. Could these be juvenile anemones? Starfish? Something else entirely?

f you are seeing tiny star-like organisms on your glass, they are likely to be Hydroid Jellyfish. They sort of look like very small Aptasia, or a snowflake or even baby star fish, they are not really much bigger than the head of a pin (1-2mm max).

Its a hydroid or hydrazoan and can be scraped off into a net before they multiply

I have the same issue right now. I've been starving the tank, feeding only few times a week in hopes they go away. really hard to scrape them into a net so i've been using a paper towel to just wipe them off the glass. It seems like they've reduced in number but still around.

I have not changed much if anything to address this problem. When I see them on the glass, I scoop them out with an algae scraper. Problem does not seem to be getting any worse.

How old is the tank?

1 month old, but I used live rock and sand from Tampa Bay Saltwater. So, it’s tough for me to compare timelines to a tank that used dry rock.

how so do they show up in new tanks? i feel like mine were hitchhikers from a zoa i bought from a a LFS which i also ended up getting bryopsis from but i think i got rid of them using reef flux

No idea where they actually come from, but every tank I have started, these were some of the first life forms to show up. Dry rock, live rock, didn't matter.

@OldRed1 any update on the hydroids in your tank? mine are still around no matter how much i scrape out during every water change.
