This tang and I have been through a lot. Got her super tiny recovering from ich from petco. Had her on copper for way too long and she developed really bad hlle. Shortly after that she got some kind of bacterial infection/wound and couldn’t swim straight for two days but that cleared up on gen cure. She’s finally been moved to DT and been here about a month as happy as can be. The hlle hasn’t gotten better but hasn’t gotten worse. Today I noticed she’s been scratching on the sand rocks and trying to scratch on her tank mates. No signs of ich and all other fish seem normal. Parameters are good basically all zero and she’s eating like a pig. Everything from Nori, frozen, pellets, flakes. Tom I’m going to start soaking the food in focus and metro but anyone have any idea??

How did you treat for ich and for how long ?
Also, can you provide closer pics under white lighting? Blue lighting filtering out the fish

Petco told me they had treated her for really bad ich when she came in. I had her in cupramine for about 2 weeks but was struggling to keep the required dosage and eventually got rid of the cupramine and put copper power and she was in it for about 30 days. That’s when you guys pointed out the really bad hlle and I took her off it. I’ve never actually seen ich on her though it was more preventative. I’ll add pics in the am in white light

Did you clear the cupramine Before switching to CP and at what therapuetic level did you dose copper power? Also CP should have been for 30 FULL days. In essence when you made the switch, you broke the treatment cycle?
Also how were you monitoring the level of copper (what kit?)

Yeah I cleared it to 0 it was my QT tank. CP was full 30 @2.5 I want to say. Whatever the recommended dosage is on the back. I have a HR Hanna checker. Can it be anything else besides ich because I’ve really never seen ich on her just really bad hlle and some kind of bacteria infection that went away.

Flukes and pretty much any other disease can cause fish to itch... Blue tangs in general exhibit strange behavior. Keep in mind that fish can itch time to time without it being parasitic infection.

How often is he scratching, how many days have you noticed?

If none of your other fish are showing any other symptoms and the fish are eating well, just monitor the situation and have your QT ready in case you need to pull.

Pic and video attached. All those spots are hlle which pretty much never went away. You know what though might have gotten worse by the mouth those really dark holes. Thought it was the black spots they get as adults. She eats everything her diet is good. High quality pellets Nori and frozen brine. Only thing I can think of is that my canister filter has carbon and maybe that’s causing it? She hasn’t scratched today but yesterday all evening she was. I’m feeding her pellets with metro and focus starting today.

I will no longer open videos on my PC. This is the 8th one that has knocked out my computer.
Going off still pics, HLLE is present and do likely to poor water quality, diet or both. Im curious as to what foos you are feeding but do recommend:
-Spirulina brine shrimp
- LRS Herbivore diet
- mysis shrimp
- small plankton
- Nori seaweed basted with garlic extract
- Hikari Marine cuisine
- Formula 2 flake and frozen
- Hikari veggie marine

Add selcon vitamins to the foods 2-3X per week and on alternating days, garlic extract for stamina and immunity health

Assure ammonia-nitrate and salinity are in range. I will not use or recommend a $25 test kit to assure the health of $100 or more of fish. Hanna and salifert are reliable kits and worth the cost.
