Juvenile with adult clown?

A couple months ago my 5 year old female clown decided she really didn't like my foxface, and died when she got herself stuck by the spines when charging.

I'm aware of the changes from male to female based on social hierarchy when it comes to adult fish, but what happens if I were to introduce a juvenile into a tank with an adult male?

Is there a chance a 5 year old male will pair with a younger fish if I were to introduce a juvenile or is he condemned to living in celibacy now? I'd just as soon leave him if he's likely to kill off a juvenile who can't yet become sexually distinct.

Yes, this is a reasonable approach. Normally the adult male will transition to a female and the juvenile will transition to a male. Good luck!

Even when it comes to juveniles? They take at least a year to mature sexually, and the only fish I've seen locally are very juvenile, most are barely 1" so I would guess about 6mo old.

I added a juvenile, and there was minor aggression for a day or two but mostly they ignore each other.
It may change as the juvenile matures, who knows.
