I went on holiday for ten days and thought the tank would be fine with an autofeeder. Boy was I wrong. The ATO malfunctioned so the tank didn't top up properly. The water level dropped to a powerhead which started spraying salty foam into the air (imagine my horror upon returning and seeing that). The upper corals died. The level of water in my sump section was so low that it had dropped completely below my juwel heater. The heater was dangerously exposed to the air but still managed to hold out until I returned with just some minor scorches. I live in Hong Kong and I am glad I spent the tiny bit of extra money on it rather than a cheap no-name Chinese one. Could have been disastrous!

Wow sorry to hear this happened. but also shows you get what you pay for good thing that didn’t bust heaters are always a item I pay up for. Id bet you are happy you did.

Congrats on averting a disaster, lots of lesson to learn here, vacation without someone watching your tank is rolling the dice, also if someone is watching your tank, just a different set of dice.

Try to have the tank on auto pilot one week before you leave do not touch anything see how the tank performs.

When I went away M- F for 8 weeks my skimmer would overflow on Tues. Every Tues.
