K4 in a 30 Gallon Frag Tank

I need to upgrade the powerheads in my frag tank, and I have the option of buying a K4 for a reasonable price. My original plan was 2x K2s. The tank is 24x24x12, about 30 gallons.

Thoughts?

(PS, vortechs aren't an option for me lol, too dang expensive)

Heh, I wouldn't do it. One K4 and you're going to have a hard time keeping frags glued down.

If you can get a wave maker, that's probably the only pump you'll need. I have a 40g and have roughly 1500gph flow with 4 powerheads + return.

yea its strong.......i have 1k4 along with 2 k3s for alot of flow and deadspots........unless its the k4 that hydor sells that you can adjust the speed with a dial

Nah I think its the normal K4. Thanks for the advice, I had the same thoughts.

I think it will be just fine, just aim the powerhead up at the water surface. I have 2 MP20's cranking at full blast in a 40 breeder for reference.

My frag tank is 24x24x10 and I have 2 K2's and I only use 1. If I turn both on it blows frags all over. I also used locline to direct flow.

I have locline on my return, so that accomplishes most of what I will need I think. One K2 sounds good to me. I also have a few Koralia nanos that I could use to supplement if needed.

hey jared why not go with a k3.?? i use to use 2 k2s.......but the flow was very broad and seemed to light of a flow to me...IMO

I have 2 Tunze 6055's in my 30"x18"x18" tank.

That would probably accomplish what I need.

I have 2 K3's in my tank(75) plus return. I had a K4 in it and took it out due to too much flow for some of my LPS.
