Kaemor, GHL, or ? $ no object.

I looked into coral box, kamoer and ghl dosing pumps. All of them have the app but only GHL has the stepper motor which is far more reliable and accurate than the solenoid motors on peristaltic pumps found on most dosing pumps. A comparable dosing pump will be the DOS that has the comparable stepper motor but the interface and aesthetics of it is not for me. Not to mention that it cost way more if you need 4 pumps. (DOS, $600 - GHL $459). I ordered the stand alone GHL version and awaiting for it!

I just received my ghl doser for triton and cant be more happy. I had a kamoer before and one of the heads died after about a year, unacceptable. Also couldnt find a replacement head

The ghl seems much more well designed and even though it was a challengr to get it connected to the internet it works amazingly now.

GHL 2.1 doser and you can buy one stand alone and one slave unit with total 8 heads for $900. You need windows to set it up but then you can control it through cloud server from anywhere in the world. They are quite stable and maintain their calibration over time.

I went for the DOS units, but then I already had the Apex. If looking at standalone, then GHL, although there have been a number of issues with the pump heads on these.

I think you should clarify this - They never broke or dosed wrong amounts, the early units simply made a squeak noise sometimes.

I can further clarify what GHL doser owners said to me, they had had issues with failed heads and very loud squeaking (there are a number of threads on the squeaking issue also I believe). I've no axe to grind, but as I was about to buy the GHL, I chose the DOS units instead based on the feedback and support experiences of those customers.

Ironically, I have had a failure on one of the DOS pump heads, replaced under warranty also.

I love my GHL 2.1 doser and I am one that had a failed head. Not only did it squeak but it completely locked up and stopped dosing. GHL sent 2 new sets of wear parts immediately which I was pleased with.

I would also point out that you can get 2 replacement sets of wear parts for $15 which fixes this issue.

The entire head assembly can be replace for $30

I exactly dont know which version of GHL doser we are talking about but I heard couple of issues with the 2.1 but thats all. Its new product and everything new can have a little issue. But looking at their excellent customer service and experience with dosing pumps I will deifinitely recommend them. I have their stand alone unit version 2. Its running since a year and half without any issues.

Nice they took care of you. Point I was trying to make is there was no known, common issue with failing heads like there was with squeaking. Of course there will be a failed head from time to time.

I am another person running mine about 15 months now with no concerns :)

I went with the DOS, I like the water changing ability and ease of use. Great doser no problems 3 yrs running.

I was considering getting 2 DOS units as I like the Apex integration and future integration with the forthcoming Trident. It’s just that they’re so notoriously loud! :( Being that they’ve been out for quite some time, I was hoping the noise issue would have been addressed already by Neptune. I don’t have a fish room so noise reduction is a very important factor for me.

For dosing, the DOS units are actually pretty quiet. I have mine mounted on the wall under the desk of my home office. You can hear them when running, but it's not loud and as they calculate the dosing schedule automatically in small increments, they don't run quickly. They are certainly quieter than the cheap doser I ran before.

If running in constant water change mode, then the pump heads will spool up and you will get a louder constant noise.

I hope this helps

I do use the GHL right now but I also have a DOS unit. If you run either of the dosers at high speed they are pretty loud. If you run them slowly the GHL is a little quieter than the DOS but not by much. At high speeds they make around the same amount of noise as my Tunze ATO pump.

I think form factor should be considered if looking between the GHL and the DOS. The DOS works best if you have a wall to mount it on. If you want to set it on a shelf, the GHL works better imo. If you are size limited, the 4 head GHL takes up less space than a 2 head DOS unit.

If purchasing either the DOS or GHL, I recommend purchasing from BRS. If the unit arrives with a problem, BRS will swap it out for you. If you order it from the manufacturer and it's got an issue, then you'll go thru the rigmarole of debugging it and doing repairs.

Given the price points of both units, I strongly prefer to start with a working unit from the start and not immediately have to replace pieces myself.

I don't think either GHL or Neptune sell directly to hobbyists do they? I think they're both trade only. In any case, your retailer should swap any faulty equipment within the first year (OK, maybe only in the UK/EU).

Can't disagree with anything there. I did have my DOS units stacked, which I wasn't happy with. So much better now they are wall mounted.

GHL does. BRS only recently started carrying their dosers. For most of the rest of their products, you need to buy it directly from GHL.
