First, I searched for an answer but couldn't find one. If the answer has already been posted somewhere, I apologize.

This is my second tank, and I want to use Kalkwasser to maintain my PH, Alkalinity & calcium levels. Unfortunately, I travel often for work and must make a large batch that would last me a week or two.

My question is:

1. Can I make 50 gallons of Kalkwasser lasting 2 to 3 months? Does Kalkwasser degrade or become less potent over time, and are there any other side effects of aged Kalkwasser water? I will try to keep the water as airtight as possible, but there will be a small hole where the tube and electrical cable go through the water container."

2. If I add extra Kalkwasser powder and it sinks to the bottom, can I add more water to use the leftover Kalkwasser at the bottom? I know I'm not supposed to dose the top film, so is there an easy way to remove it before adding additional water?

Thanks

Short answer, Yes to all.

I agree. yes to all except the calcium carbonate film on top. Just ignore it. Dosing it causes no harm.
