Long story short. Last power outage thankfully I was home as I was dripping kalk into my refugium and after 4 hours I decided to check on the tank to remember my kalk was dripping away in my sump. I lost all the pods and micro algae but that’s it thankfully. I have a new doser as my jabeo died after a year. I replaced it with a Coral Box WiFi but it will only dose 24 time a day per channel. How much can safely be dosed at one time? I have 2 open pump heads so I could dose via 2 channels and dos say every 30 minuets as well if that would be better.

What is the total amount of Kalk you dose per day?

A gallon lasted about 4 days when I was dripping it so I’m guessing that would be approximately 900 ml ish a day of kalk.
I’m still struggling on keeping my ph above 7.8 mid day so I was thinking about backing off on my 2 part and increasing kalk. I have a CO2 scrubber online and the incoming are to the scrubber is a 3/4 tune plumbed outwards. My CO2 material last about a week tops.

Even if you're dosing fully-saturated limewater, remember that most people dose with an ATO. This will usually dump in many fluid ounces of limewater at once and this usually doesn't cause any problems. Dosing once an hour will likely not cause any issues at standard evaporation rates.

+1

With your water volume and the slower dose rates of a dosing pump you can dose 100ml each hour with no issues.

Thank you guys so so much!!! I’ll leave my 2 part amounts alone and hook up my kalk to my doser now. I’ll test every 12 hours to keep an eye on things to find my tanks happy spot again.

You're welcome :) if you're looking for a two-part with a higher pH boost, check out Randy's post on the topic. I'm not sure if it has a pH boost similar to that of calcium hydroxide, but it does have double the pH increase of a regular sodium carbonate two-part.

I’m dosing ESV B-ionic 2 part now which I have about 1-1/2 gallons of each left. I was actually just reading the same link you sent me and wondering if that should be what I move to when I run out of ESV B-ionic

My kalk doser, runs every hour for 3 1/2 minutes, with BRS 50ml / min doser. Think that’s 175 ml per hour, no issues.
