I am looking for a way to run a passive KALK Reactor or Injector on my ATO line. Basically I am looking for ideas for a no pump, no motor design that will allow me to use KALK for the sole purpose of PH maintenance. I do not need it to be super saturated for maintenance of Cal/Alk, just enough to increase the PH of the ATO water and help maintain tank PH in the process.

So can I see your DIY designs?

I am not against a pump driven system, just looking for extremely simple...

What I reused a 1gal jug and filled it with ro/di water then kalk and vinegar. I drilled two holes in lid, then fed two lines in. one for vent and other for drip line I got from a IV line with flow adjuster. I placed the jug on a box just above the sump. Just blow into vent line and it starts the flow. Only cost me juice for the jug. I can post up picks later if you want.

I am looking more for a system that hooks onto my ATO feed line so it is a more consistent system not needing refill daily.

I am thinking about using an older DI canister as the reactor. It would be passive, mixed solely by the flow of the aqualifter ATO pump...

Basis of the design:

Tunze Osmolator Calcium Dispenser 5074he DI canister would be mounted after the Aqualifter and installed backward. A Downtube would be added to the canister top so it would reach the bottom of the canister. Feed water would be released into the bottom of the canister. It would use the highly reliable force of gravity to deliver the top off water to the tank.

Thoughts on this DIY idea? If it will be an epic failure I'd rather redesign/tweak it now than have to rebuild something again down the road...

There are pics of designs just like this on the web. I installed one like it a couple weeks ago. The open question is how effective it is. There is no good way to stir the kalk. I'm thinking of monitoring performance by measuring ph of the effluent.

I made a simple kalk stirrer for under $20 and it has been working flawless. I did use a small electric motor from eBay, it was less then $10 shipped from china. You could forgo the motor and just bubble your ato up through your slurry. Not sure how effective it would be, but could try. I will post some pics of my reactor for you.
