So I just went downstairs to check on my Skimmer in the sump and my pergo hardwood floor was soaking wet. I mopped it all up and have a fan as well as the dehumidifier going. What else can I do?
Apparently sometime in the last 12 hours my 5 gallon bucket that I filled with Kalk cracked at the bottom and leaked all over. The solution was 2 tablespoons per gallon times 5 gallons.
Please tell me my floors will be ok we just did them 6 months ago and the wife is going to kill me!
#reefsquad I need your help!!!

That really sucks! Sounds like you've done all you can do. Maybe a bath towel to collect any residual water, if needed.

No buckling or signs of warping at this time. It is commercial grade not home grade as it’s over concrete if that makes any difference. Heck it doesn’t even look discolored. Should I use fresh water and mop the area or just let it dry?

I think it'll come down to the quality of flooring as to whether it degrades or not. I've seen flooring warp from high humidity because it was cheaply made.

Let is dry, Run the fan and dehumidifier for a few days. The moister should dissipate through the concrete.

I have hardwood engineered glued and have had a couple of leaks without issue;)

you are SOOOOOOO lucky you have pergo and not actual wood floors. I had an entire 30g tank dump at my parents place when I was first getting into aquariums around 10 years ago. They had pergo because we had 2 dogs that liked to zoom...and all we did was run fans and sop it up as best as we could. The floor ended up being fine.

Well that just stinks...sorry to read about this. You may get lucky if it wasn't saturated too long. Pergo is pretty tough stuff so I would just keep the fans and dehumidifier running. You'll know in due time if your wife let's you live. Hopefully the water didn't get to the base boards. That may be a different conversation.

It appears to have leaked out from the front of the stand so I had a 10’x15’ puddle. There’s still about 1 gallon in the bucket so I’m guessing and praying it will all be ok. The back against the wall is bone dry the front bottom of the stand and door are soaked tho.

Fresh water mop it for sure. Ive spilt kalk quite a small handful of times. I usually get it cleaned up right away but you definitely need to wash it with some fresh water. When it drys it will leave a chalk residue

Hey check back with us and let us know how it went, also for prof of life:D:D
Oddly enough she busted me cleaning the mess and the only this she said was “ is there a way to prevent this from happening and going unnoticed? “ I responded with why yes dear a apex with the leak detection sensor! :) She said watch the Black Friday sales and if my floor in not destroyed we will talk! Please please please floor be ok so I can finally get a Apex! ;Nailbiting

Being on concrete I'd wager that it will wick a lot of the residual moisture, it can absorb a lot of water.

You sir have the art of negotiation down to a science. Regardless, and more so than just your new Apex, I do hope the floor turns out undamaged.
