Kalk Question

Hey guy!

I have a simple kalk question. Do you have to add kalk powder to your top off every time?

I have a 5gal bucket I use to top off. I use fresh RODI water and Kalk. Sometimes I add kalk powder and sometimes I just fill the bucket and stir what is left at the bottom wait for it to clear and start dripping into my sump. Does this work or do I need to add powder every time?

That method can work fine, especially if you add more than is necessary on the other times.

That said, having some solids there doesn't mean it is undissolved calcium hydroxide. Calcium carbonate builds up in these situations, and looks just like "kalk" (calcium hydroxide.

Conductivity is the easiest way to gauge the potency, with saturation around 10.3 mS/cm. It is fine to use any potency that meets your needs.
