Kalk reactor vs 2 part

Hello Everyone,

I have had a 10 gallon nuvo set up for probably 2 months now. Just recently lost my main tank from Hurricane Harvey. I wanted a tank low maintenance and small enough to move around since we are in a travel trailer until the house gets repaired.

I have been checking Alk daily with my Hanna checker and have been having to add 8 ml of BRS 2 part solution daily. With a tank this size water changes have been done weekly of about 5 gallons.

I have a Kalk reactor from my old setup that I have been considering using. Its a 6" Precision Marine reactor, but im just not sure of setting it up on a smaller tank vs adding the Kalk to the ATO container.

I have a 5 gallon tank with a Tunze Osmolator for the ATO. Not sure if the supplied pump will be strong enough to feed the reactor.

I am either going to set the tank up on dosing pumps or try the kalkwasser. Just wanting some info from others.

In a tank that small, you can get away with doing simple water changes as opposed to adding equipment and additional chemicals. You also appear to have a rather low stocked tank. This too should not require such demands that Kalk reactors or dosing cover. Good luck.

I was initially thinking the same thing when I set the tank up. Not really sure why the Alk is dropping so much daily?

We are going on vacation soon and don't want to try to explain to my brother how to test and manually dose my tank. Lol... I am fine with testing and manually dosing, but automation does make in convenient especially with traveling
