Is there any real reason to not add this into the tank? I use a 5 gallon water jug with 6 teaspoons of Mrs. Wages pickling lime. I was letting it settle out but most of them time it just gets in the tank any way. What would be wrong with just shaking my jug up before topping off?

It will start to collect on the surface in te sump and leave a cloudy hard residue on The walls.. If this sediment makes it to your pumps it will coat the impellers in the same calcium coating and it may even make it to your display. Makes more work when cleaning pumps and makes the sump and display glass look cloudy and very hard to clean

Are you saying that it will make like a hard layer on the glass?

I have a similar question on using Kalk in top-off water.i mix up 2 five gallons at a time and let them set for 24 hours. Then i siphon from the buckets to the top-off tank, but when i do this no matter how careful i am the kalk that has settled in the tank gets stirred up for a day. Will all the sediment raise up my kalk dose?Any suggestions?

It will not cause any major problems one thing to do is place the pump on some sort of stand keeping it 3 inches off the bottom this way no precipitate will be sucked up or for gravity fed set ups drill the Hole on the bucket 3 inches off the bottom

I just dump it in from my jug right now. Usually when the sludge gets code to pouring out i dunno the rest of the water.

Yes you just want the saturated solution from the powder itself. You can reuse the excess precipitate on the bottom but I used to just dump it and use new
