Kalk stirrer HOT

Should I be worried ? My kalk stirrer motor compartment gets very hot and if you open the lid to it it’ll smell like a burning metal. Not sure if it’s normal. It’s been like that since I got it and I’ve been running it for a month

ks-100 reef octo, it gets pretty hot lol. the store i bought it from told me its normal but idk, some other ppl have said when they upgrade the motor they need to provide air holes or fans

Doesn't sound normal, and if it's hot enough to have a burning smell, I'd worry about a fire risk. I've never noticed my Avast getting hot.

From the website: The Kalk Stirrer uses a 20 watt motor that has a lifetime of about 1500 hours. Please don’t run unit continuously.

So running continuously, the motor is only good for 62 days. A review on BRS said run it no more than 15 minutes out of every two hours. It's been discontinued, so I would be shopping for an alternative if you heavily rely on Kalk.

Reefocto suggested motor replacement so I am doing so. Let’s see how hot it runs then I guess
