Does anyone use aqua lifters to dose their Kalk. My evaporation on my 110 gallon reef is so inconsistent that I am considering setting up an aqua lifter to dose my kalk on a timer and have a separate top off system. I am loosing about a gallon a day of water and was thinking about dosing a 1/2 gallon of kalk per day to start. I was looking for some suggestions as to how to go about this task. I have a digital timer that will allow me to run the lifter twice a day. I can also use valves to slow the drip rate. So what period of time should I be looking at to dose a quart of Kalk twice a day?

Personally I have had better results using a dosing pump adding 2 part calcium and alkalinity. I am dosing both 24 times a day and my parameters have never been this stable.

Just run it for 60 seconds into a cup then measure that. Figure out how much you use for then divide and that will equal how many minutes you will run the pump. I find running Kalk and vinegar runs cleaner than Kalk alone. I usually run 10 ml per gallon of Kalk solution.

Why not add a float or better yet a double float to turn the pump on when needed.
