I'm tired of manual dosing 2 part and would like to try kalkwasser. I have a Milwaukee PH controller (in use)with one pump(not in use), a bubble magus 3-2(need to replace 2 also not in use) and a Tunze ATO that is in use. I would like to make due with what I have. Please let me know which route you would go with what I have. Thank

My understanding is that the tunze can be used for kalk. However you need to open the electronic component and adjust a pot internally to slow the pump down. Otherwise the ATO pumps in kalk too fast for most tanks and ends up causing too large/fast of a pH swing.

One route would be the dosing pump on a timer to dose something less than the daily evaporation, and the ATO with just water. That would ensure a more similar amount dosed each day. However, depending on how much you want to dose, the doser might be running nearly 24/7 and might wear out fast.

That said, I use limewater (kalkwasser) in my ATO without too much concern about variable dosing due to variable evaporation rates, but I am not keeping ULNS SPS where the alk control may be most important. I do not use the Tunze, but many people do.
