I recently brought a kalk stirrer online through my ATO. It has been keeping my other parameters rock solid for 6 days now, however my PH is 100% unaffected. I live in a new home with apparently a lot of CO2 build up.
If my doors/windows are closed my PH will drop to 7.6-7.7 at night (even with a refugium on a reversed light cycle). During the day it goes to 7.95-8.02.
If I open a window my PH jumps up to 8.22-8.27 just after lights out to 8.05-8.07 at night.
The kalkwasser has had zero affect on my system, and I have tested the PH of water in the kalk reactor to verify saturation and it was 12.2 on my APEX.
I have re calibrated my probe a few times now over the past few months.
I live in Arizona so keeping my windows open isn't an option for me year round.
I ran a CO2 scrubber for a short time, and while it work it exhausted the media in 2-3 days, unfortunately that will get expensive quickly.
System volume is roughly 210 gallons and I evap off about 2-2.5 gallons daily.
My last option (which isn't really an option) is to take the skimmer air intake tube outside, however I live by crop fields that are sprayed often. I don't know if that is a risk to my tank, however I do not want to find out...
Any suggestions?
