Kalkwasser + Pax Bellum ARID

I was reading this FAQ about the ARID and noticed that they recommend against using in conjunction with a Kalk reactor.

Any clue why? I am using Kalk + CA-Rx for my dosing. So far Kalk alone has been my primary source of CA & Alk.

So, will it drive my PH too high or just poor growth from my algae? For some reason my PH has been sitting at 7.8 as of late.

My guess would be that they are assuming kalk binds some po4 in the tank and they don't want anything to interfere with the cheato growth. Kalk in that article is next to all the other nutrient reduction methods and other methods that would hinder the growth of cheato even if its not a common one I don't think they want to take the chance of getting blamed for bad results maybe.

Makes sense. I am going to try both and see what happens. So far just dosing Kalk at night has been enough to keep my CA & KH super stable and good coralline growth.

If I had to guess poor algae growth. Randy has mentioned one shouldn’t interfere with the other in some comments I’ve seen unless your ph is in the 9 region.

Eh, kalkwasser reducing P isn’t really understood. I wouldn’t say it’s accepted science that it does. Either way you’re probably right
