So I’m kinda new to Kalk and am a little confused by BRS’s website. I thought from @Randy Holmes-Farley that full saturation of Kalk is 2 teaspoons per gallon of top off to water. The thing is on https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/kalkwasser-calcium-hydroxide-bulk-reef-supply.html website it says dose max of 1 1/2 Teaspoons per gallon and on this page https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/how-to-add-kalk-to-your-auto-top-off it states max is 2 teaspoons per gallon. Am I missing something? I have just ran low on Kalk and was about to order more.

BRS' new pharma kalk is more dense (so it takes less tsp/gal to reach saturation). So measuring by volume vs standard food grade lime means it takes less. By weight it should be the same, but I honestly haven't checked that....;Sorry

Volume is a very crude way to measure solids. The bulk density (grams per volume) varies substantially while solubility has a weight based limit. The amount that dissolves also varies with temperature, with LESS dissolving in warmer water.

So either 2 teaspoons nor 1.5 teaspoons will ever be exactly right. Just use those as a rough guide.

This article has much more technical info on limewater (the english language word for kalkwasser, which is a german language word).
