Is there any reason I can’t make up some kalk, put it in its own tank and draw out of that with a dosing pump?

Refill and clean just like an ATO.

That's what I do.

I clean it every couple of months, not every time. I shut the doser off for 20 minutes, mix up a batch and go. You shouldn't need to clean it that often if you're using the correct amount of kalk, there should be very little, if any settlement on the bottom

No there is not. I make up 40 gallons at a time in a brute

I'm actually setting that up this weekend. I'm going to use a brute can and Versa doser.

Brute trash cans are widely used for this purpose and are a good choice.

I use a 5 gallon bucket with a screw on lid currently but need to upgrade to a bigger container. I will probably use and old 30 gallon pickle barrel
