It's been awhile since I last used a Kalk stirrer but I'm thinking of using it again because I remember how happy and fast my sps grew. I've been having some issues dialing in my calcium reactor so I've gone back to two part dosing, which seems to be working fine. I don't have any issues maintaining my calcium levels or ph ( it will often get in the 8.5 - 8.6 range in the afternoon and only drop down to around 8.2 at night). Knowing this, is there still a reason that I should dose kalk again?

I am a huge fan of Kalk and I say go for it. Kalk in a Stirir is my favorite calcium and alk solution. The only down sides to kalk imo is that you don’t get the trace elements of a calcium reactor or some 2 part solutions and you may have to add a calcium reactor or 2 part if the demand is high.

These are worth while trade offs for me because kalk is cheaper than 2 part or CO2 and reactor media leading to long term savings and Kalk compensates for the 2 biggest disadvantages of a calcium reactor and 2 part. Depressed pH with a calcium reactor and salinity swings with 2 part.

Go Kalk Go Kalk

Thanks for the feedback. I would be looking to dose kalk in addition to my 2 part, not instead of it.
