Is kalkwasser a necessary item? I am thinking about buying a test sps just for the fun of it. To see if my tank is even ready for it all my lps is doing great but I was wondering about the kalkwasser stuff I hear about it a lot but I’m not 100 percent sure what it is or what it’s for but kalkwasser is something I see a lot in sps tanks

Kalk will buffer and maintain, even raise PH. I would not consider unless you have a PH issue

It’s like a one-part dosing idea to replace alk and Calcium at the same time and in equal amounts. Works great, but it is pretty weak, large tanks outgrow it pretty fast, so it is more loved because it’s pH increasing capability.

I only have a 40 gallon and I’ve overdosed alk cal and mag in it with fusion 1 and 2. My alk is okay at 11.2 my calcium is well over 500 and my mag is well over 1600. So I’m having to let it go back down right now still a newbie trying to figure it all

Yes, you should wait a bit.

I went a little crazy on the fusion one! Good thing I didn’t add as much 2 because my corals would be dead! Haha

It’s okay. It takes some time (and by some I mean a lot) to figure out supplementing
