I have a 5 gallon jug that will be used for an ato. Can I add and mix kalk directly into the jug and let it sit for a few hours without harm? I dont think I would use more than 1/2 tsp per gallon.

Yes you can. I just make sure the pump isn't in the sediment.

And in all honesty , if it's a very small amount your mixing , use an old mason jar , or thick plastic bottle. Then the sediments settle and you're just adding the saturated lime.

Im only doing so little since the tank consumes about 1 dkh a week. Where I live its realky dry so lots of evaporation occurs on a daily basis.

Yup. Same here for years till I started auto two part dosing. It gets hot here in the summer and the evaporation is unpredictable. So I bought one of those cool sciencey measuring beakers and just add a 100 ml or less of fluid on each ato refill.
Or just eyeballed it lol.

My concern was clogging the pump , it might be a totally unsubstantiated fear, I'll admit.
