I have a Jabao DP-4 dosing pump which seemed fine I know its cheap but it puts things in the tank.

I recently grabbed 1 Kamoer X1 because it was so cheap and played around with it and I like it much better. The app is nice super super easy to calibrate. Small size. I just ordered my second I currently dose 3 part so I will eventually get all 3. I have Mag turned off now as its fine so I will dose Cal and Alk.

Just wondering what other people think about these I am really liking it so far because how easy easy it is.

How are they working for you? I'm thinking about getting one to try it out. I'm always dosing tiny amount of 2-part in my classroom nano and I'd love to automate that.

@Mastiffsrule - do you want to chime in and share your experience with X1s?

I had a jebao and switched to three x1s, I love them!

The app is great, quite and accurate, no bubbles in lines either, struggled with that with the jebao.

Thanks.

i have the X1 for a few months now. I got 3 units and the 3 containers off aliexpress. Not too expensive. I have not had any issues with the doser. They are heavy and feel solid for their size and price. You can plug them as a daisy chain so each plugs into the other for power and only 1 needs a power source. The containers are cheap to. The tubes have a float on them, but the X1 is not designed to use the float.

Like mentioned the app is super easy. If I could figure it out, anyone can. The down side is they are only reachable thru the app as far as i know. This only becomes a problem if you lose power. The X1 needs to reconnect to the app to follow the program again. It will also have to be recalibrated again. If you don’t travel a lot or have a lot of ppower outages it should not be too much trouble.

so, basically I like mine and for price, can’t beat them. Only other issue is the tubing size, I only found extra back up thru amazon, but no big deal.

i Shoot a pic of my set up when I can

Are you sure they need to be re calibrated? I have shut mine off a few times accidentally and did not re calibrate them, but I also didnt check to make sure they were still calibrated. Seems to be dosing correctly still, did some water tests last night.

But yes I forgot to mention this flaw, if they lose power they need to be re connected via blue tooth. For my aquarium purpose this is not a big deal, but sps tanks especially would not like this "feature".

That's a major flow, you can lose power at any time, an not notice it, and your tank can be without dosing for long periods if you don't check your dosing regularly.

Maybe adding some battery backup to solve that.

This is true, not saying its not a huge design flaw, but if they are disconnected the light on them blinks red, making it easy to tell they have been disconnected.

I looked at those but losing settings with a power outage was a deal breaker for me.. Coral box makes a similar single head doser with app control that does not lose settings or calibration with power outages.

Ive had bad luck with the jebao dosing pumps. One had the display go out and the replacement would not be precise like it lost the calibration. My X1 has been working flawlessly. I dont use it for cal/alk dosing though...just amino acid dosing

Yes I wanted to like the jebao but it just wasnt working. Also being able to change dosing through phone is great!

I have 3 of them they work great. They dont lose settings when the power goes out they just start the dosing schedule from the beginning. There was a thread on here where coralvue answered that question.
i have mine set up to turn off depending on the pH & never had any issues either

hi all.

i think i can clear up a few thing.

yep, when power goes out, the units flash red. When they are running the program as normal they are solid red. i just do a quick look every once and a while

when power goes out, the units need to be reconnected to the app, hence no WiF. When you reconnect your program from the app goes into the doser, so no issues there. No reprogramming needed

when power goes out, definitely recalibrate. It will only be off by 1 or 2, but on a smaller tank it could be an issue, it’s easy, once the unit is back on just grab the beaker and redo.

I have never used the other doser but reviews are much better on this x1

I’ve been using them for calcium and alkalinity for about 4 months with no issues. Calibration is quick and easy, so is set up. Overall they are awesome pumps for the price.

That would explain why my po4 is rising, I didnt re calibrate after I shut them off.

It’s been 1 year since I set mine up. I never really messed with dosing pumps before these and the task seemed a little daunting considering I was working with about 30g of water. By that I mean dosing precision means a bit more. These pumps allow you to dose at very small quantities up to 12 times a day.. I’ve smoothly managed to go from around 16ml alk & cal a day up to 32.4ml/day over the last year. By the way not that it’s important to know but that’s at high 7 to 8 alk.

I’ve used the Kaomer F4 pro for several months now and haven’t had the power or recalibrating issues talked about here with the X1 mentioned here. It also is reached via WiFi only with their app
