Kasa smart power strip got stuck on

Anyone had any issues using Kasa smart outlets? Mine failed to turn off for my water change schedule the other day. Wasn’t a catastrophe but pretty unsettling. Thinking of changing to something else if someone has a wifi timer suggestion

I run a number of the Kasa Smart Plugs and never had this issue. Possible there was a power outage? Issues with your Wifi? possible you accidentally hit the button on the side of the outlet? AND maybe a dumb question, but you weren't manually controlling the outlet with the app and did not return to the app home screen?

If it was none of those things then I am note sure what would cause it other than a failure on the apps side.

Mine failed to turn my light off at the end of the day once. Only ever happened once, and i dont think i had a power outage that day either. My guess would be an issue with connectivity but otherwise never had another issue.

I use those regularly on my qt systems and the one time it had a scheduling issue was after a planned local power outage. A manual reset (turning the entire strip on and off) fixed the issue (assuming it needed that to properly resync the clock)

They are terrible inside of my home. My walls are 7/8 inch thick plaster on gypsum lath. I had to first install a mesh system to even get them on the the network. One on the network operation was spotty at best. But a sloppy network doeant have anything to do with poor operation. The program is stored on the device itself, not on a network somewhere.

I've had to replace (3) power strips (6 outlet) of them because of connectivity issues to wifi. Newer models seem to be of no problems (so far). Find it hard to be without them for all the aquarium devices. Timers have worked as expected.

I’ve recently started using the Kasa plugs and they have been working fine.
I mostly use Wemo plugs, since they’re quite compact and the non-thread version came 3 in a low priced pack.
I have an Eve plug as a master on my ingest system, because they’re more robust, gave great insight and worked well with my home network, but they’re much more expensive than the other 2

Overall been good but I wouldn’t use them for dosers etc. If they are powered on and you lose power they will come back on and if it’s passed the time for the “off” command they will stay on. Recently I have had one powered on when it was supposed to be and I don’t believe there was any power interruption so I wouldn’t use it for anything critical.

I had bad luck with the kasa smart strip. Mine lost power to a coupe of outlets. I've had better luck with cheap smart plugs connected to a power strip.

Happens sometimes with mine. The manual references that this can happen. Best to keep an eye on it.

You might already do this, but I found the easiest way to have a "safety" is to have another "off" command scheduled a few minutes after the first. If it's already off nothing happens, but if it misses the first one, the second command will catch it. I guess you could have really bad luck and have the "off" command fail twice, but that hasn't happened to me yet.

I run Kasa 6 outlet power strips and single outlets in my system. In my experience the single outlets tend to lose wifi more frequently than the power strips, even though both are located 6 feet apart from the router. As you know once the outlet is programmed it will worked as scheduled without wifi. The problem is when there is a power outage and the outlet is running and "ON" event. This event gets stamped in the firmware and if the power doesn't come back before the "OFF" event the outlet will stay "ON" until the next programmed "ON-OFF" event occurs.

I do use the 6 outlet strips I have alot of them (#6) but none for pumps only skimmers, lights and fans (somewhat unimportant things) but I have had the lights stay on a few times luckily it was noticed in the morning, the first time or two I wasn't sure I didn't accidentally turn them on but a few times after that I know I didn't, but I still use them. for me it's a cheap reliable option for how much they are in use my issues have been very minimal and easily fixed. I am currently thinking about other options though they have been in place for over 2 years, most on and off multiple times daily...
