Katanda's IM 10g

Any IDs on these guys? Green hair algae? Started showing up with the diatom bloom... threw Chemipure Blue in the filter to control phosphates...

Looks to be Bryopsis algae, at least that's my best guess based on the photos and my experience. Good thing you found it early, it likes to multiply fast and strangle out other corals, I used to have a foot of GSP in my IM 120 that I just took down that it was trying to take over. Not sure if you're monitoring magnesium levels but elevating them will get rid of it

Hmm... no I'm not watching magnesium yet but I will be sure to pick up some and a test kit. I went and looked at some pics and it does look a lot like Bryopsis... any other options for eradication? Thanks for your help

No worries, funny enough I'm just getting out of the hobby as you're getting back in and I hope to return one day too. From what I know raising the Magnesium level and keeping it between 1600-1800ppm will help eradicate it, this article is pretty helpful: http://www.3reef.com/threads/bryopsis-learn-what-it-is-and-how-to-kill-it.100365/ As far as other options, I don't know of any but in my experience the Magnesium elevation worked well. I did try plucking them out by the base from zoanthid and GSP colonies that they were growing in. Not sure if this made it any better but it didn't seem to make it worse...

Safe to say, I think I'm cycled :)

suggestions for cuc? first fish?

Tank has been ready for about 2 weeks now....put in a maxi jet pump as I felt it needed more flow
