Kat's Esoteric Biotope

what are your plans for the cloves? are you going to manually place them on the tree. I have a rock with a few blue cloves left on it and I can't get them to grow....I wish I knew the secret :(

This will be first time fragging but the plan is to carefully frag off small bits of rock and glue them to the branches. Depending on how it goes, does it looks clumpy, does it look weird, I may not do all of it.
They like dirty water I think. Not sure though.

If you want a pump that's a little smaller and easier to camouflage try the hydor Pico pump. It's at least half the size of your current pump. Nice thread!

Thanks.

I looked at that pump, it is bigger than any of my other options and the one I am currently using (the teeniest).
The ones in Bold are currently in the tank.

The dimensions of this tank are very small, it makes a small pump look huge. :third:
So take a look at this picture. This pump is 1 1/4 X 1 1/4 inch.

It's a tad small but I might still use it, still have a couple of cute additions up my sleeve. The hold up is the foliage on the tree. This weekend I fragged the blue cloves and glued bits of it on the branches. Waiting to see if they will work out.

Well, Sept 10th is the last day to add livestock and that came up mighty fast didn't it. My blue clove frags have not yet begun to take off but the good thing is that even if it doesn't the GSP that I then plan on using on the branches is basically harvested from the mat growing on the bottom.

I'll post pictures tomorrow of the blue clove grafts.

September 10th! Last day to add livestock. Well, to be accurate, the last day to add corals. I'm pretty set with what I have in there.
GSP FMV $50 (I removed about 1/4th of it a few weeks ago but the $50 value is still fine.)
Blue Cloves $30
Blue dot mushroom in flowerpot (will get FMV later)

The tank will be undergoing a dramatic change in the next 2 weeks. This weekend I removed the blue clove grafts and old zoanthid grafts from the tree branches and wrapped GSP on it. I wanted the tree to have a lush appearance for the contest and the blue cloves while still alive, are extremely moody. The GSP will give a real tree feel with the waving green polyps. The floor will have sand. The more I picture it in my head, the more I like the idea of the contrast with the sand to bring the focus back to the tree and also to show the little red wagon and other props.

From my established tank I added a few zoanthid frags to the tank, just to have them in there for the deadline.
Eagle Eyes
Sunny Ds
Pink Hippos

I'll get a FMV on these once they have stopped being *****. For now here is a cloudy FTS, when I removed a big chunk of GSP to frag the crap that got stirred up was unbelievable. So we are going through a bacterial bloom. Hopefully it will sort itself out but I'll do a water change tomorrow. So this is just to have a Sept 10 place holder image. You can see the GSP is just a small piece on the bottom now. The grafts on the branches are not yet happy.

looking really good kat! I'm looking forward to seeing the gsp on the branches - I think by removing the big mat of gsp on the bottom, it really brings your eye to the tree. I don't see the wagon??

Thanks lady, and good eye. The wagon is hidden behind the clove rock. The tank is dimmer than usual due to the bacterial bloom.

Yay, tank is clear. It is still waking up, I hope to post clear pictures today.
