So my father and I went and picked up the stand and canopy today, tank won't be in for another week. Everything from my 55 gal except for sand will be put into this through time.

I will be running a basement sump, picked up a 40breeder from Petco.

Any suggestions on:
Skimmer
Return pump
And stock list :)

Plan on being sps dominant.

Updates to come!

Rooms a bit dark, the 55 was moved which is why the couch is taken apart. But it had to be done to get the 180 in its rightful place.

Got some hardware for the build. Going with...

-NW 200 Reef octopus skimmer
-Mag18 for return

Hopefully I'll be picking up the tank Sunday than I can get to plumbing this thing.

Time to set up the plumbing :)

We will be only returning the water to the tank via one line to a corner instead of to through two corners. I feel it will restrict the return a bit too much if we put a Y. I don't care if it only enters in one side as long as it makes it way back in from the sump.

Filling her up to see how plumbing works out.. Got some time to go til than though.

Unfortunate news about the 55 gal that I'm upgrading from, my Picasso clownfish seemed to have vanished, little guy was only about a year old.. Everybody else in tank is normal and I haven't added anything new to the tank since like July so I don't know.

Some new stuff, a 1500 koralia, a smartwave controller and 2 magnum 8 3250 gph that will alternate flow.

Tank swap completed

Two royal gramma in the 40 breeder quarantine tank. Nice size to them. Looking to add copper to the tank to take care of any nasties right away. Planning on 4 week qt

No sign of ich. Just doing half amount of copper recommended on bottle to help if there is anything not showing yet. Probably will add a little more.

I had the misfortune of Ich developing in a tank with 11 fish. PIB to eradicate, best to avoid altogether. If you are going to prophylactically treat, then treat properly with proper copper levels, IMO. I do a full 4 weeks hyposalinity on all new fish, and 6-8 weeks fallow QT for all rock and coral. More than 3 years since the Ich outbreak, no further episodes.

Very nice setup so far, BTW. Congrats!!

I plan to qt anything wet, I'll bring copper levels up to recommended. And qt for 4 weeks.

Thank you!

New LEDs are here and two of three fixtures are installed and just waiting til my father gets back to help with the final install of the 3rd.

The par level with these new fixtures are much better even with the 90 degree optics we were forced to use because my canopy only raises up a total of 4.5" here's a pic of differences in numbers
