I’m running out of steam and need some motivation!

About to move and half of me wants to just take the tank down for good. The other half of me wants to keep it going.

I’m battling GHA, aptasia, and bubble algae! Plan on cleaning off my rock and getting new sand during the move but I’m just tired of battling one thing after the next.

I also spilled about 3 gallons of salt water on the ground today during a water change which isn’t helping me feel any better!

What does everyone do to get out of a fish tank slump??

Sounds like the perfect time for some soul searching. Do you love the challenges and rewards of reefing, or is it more just a chore? This is the a great time to start again if it is something you are committed to. We've all had our frustrations, and the only guarantee is that you will have further challenges in the future. I personally would encourage you to forge ahead. There's just something amazing about keeping a piece of the living reef in our homes. I think you would miss it terribly or you would not be asking.

Forge ahead; figure out what is causing the algae, and make the corrections in the tank when you set it up in the new move. You'll probably still have some show up, but after a while you'll get it all under control and then the reef will start to thrive and you will be grateful you went through the trials and tribulations to get to the end result. Get some nudibranch for the Aptasia. Good luck!

I appreciate the kind words! Just what I needed to hear! At times it feels like a chore, however, as I sit on my couch and look at my clean tank and happy fish it really makes me appreciate the hard work put into it!

Definitely going to be making some adjustments when I move though. Less rock, remove some palys that are spreading like a weed. I want to keep it a little more simple.

Formulate your goals in your head. Sit down with a piece of paper and write down each and every step to make things better. There might be lags between steps, but stick to the plan. As you complete each step, you will start to see progress. This progress will encourage you to continue. As things improve, you'll have the desire to keep going.

I think Flippers gave you excellent advice. A clear and concise plan. Why not drill it while everything is temporarily housed?

That post was half sent. Didn’t realize that! Lol

I would but the only thing I have to finish the project is my sump tank...

I was thinking though...has anyone drilled a tank and just put bulkheads on until you get everything else?

I saw somebody using a 5g bucket temporarily.
