I have a 150G and am new to the reef tank. I currently have 2 Barlett anthias, 1 Nemo, 3 Firefish, a Lemon peel tang and 3 black and white chromis. I have been trying to keep wrasses and had 3 yellow flanked (all died of starvation due to stress?) and a painted red head which I put in last week and have not seen yet. Want to know what is a good combination to keep or am I doomed? Which of my fish is stressing out the wrasses?
:squigglemouth:

By black and white chromis do you mean damsel? If so that is your problem I would say.

BTW welcome to R2R and we are here to help you! Please post often.

The store I bought from told me it is a black and white Chromis? The tails are white and the whole body is black. The tank has been up since Nov 2010 and i cycled it for 2 months before putting anything in. The store tests my water and told me it is ok. Getting a little frustrating as i am so new to the hobby and the tank size maybe a little too ambitious on my side?

Bicolor chromis I believe some call them. I'd bet more on the mimic being the culprit. BUT - Nemo as in clown? If so which type?

Ok, ok sounds like it could be the Maroon they can be very territorial. Have you had the Maroon a long time? Also do you see aggressive behavior? The wrasse could still be alive. They can hide for long periods of time and hide where you can't find them.

Nemo is a maroon clown with yellow stripe.

Maroons can be known for their no so nice dispositions and can be aggressive / territorial.

Oops, I must have been in the process of responding while you posted Rev sorry! :)

the maroon is one of my first ones. i had a Malonarus wrasse and also a sailfin tang once and i had to get rid of them (trap and brought them back to the store) as they told me they are the aggressors. Also, the Malonarus ate my cleaner shrimps.
