I have a question about clams, I used to have one in my nano when I first got it started up, it lasted a while and then something happened to it. I think I might have burnt it with a Halide, but before that it did well.

Ever since then with my established tank, I cant seem to keep clams, they literally die in a couple days. I don't understand it at all, they require a lot of light right? Anything I should consider? I didnt have any fish that would nip at them, nassarius snails only eat them if they are dieing right?

I would like to get another but im scared it might die!

Going to need the basic water parameters for a better idea and stab at an answer.
ALK
CAL
SG
PH
MAG
Temp
Current lighting

It would also be good to know what species of clam you are purchasing. Some are next to impossible to keep. Just for diagnosis' sake, tell us what other inhabitants are in your tank as well.

Also what did you feed the clam and what size tank (you say nano bot there is a wide range)

Well I have no idea what my params were at the time, its been a while since I tried one. Currently I have a 50g cube 24x24x20 with sump running 6 lamp T5 w/ATI lamps (4 Blue+, 1 Coral+ and 1 Purple+)

My inhabitants are as follows -

Pair of Clowns
McCoskers
Yellow Candy Hogfish
Bangai Cardinal
Yellow Tang
Azure Damsel

At the time However I didnt have the Bangai or the Hog, and I had a Sixline.

Scarlet Cleaner
3x Peppermints
Handful of Nassarius
About 20 hermits
2 Turbos
Few Stomatellas
Few Ceriths

Last I checked my params were -

Calcium 420
Alk 9
pH 8.1
Salinity 1.024 (raising it up currently)
Mag 1500
Temp stays at 78-80 controlled by my Apex.

Looks good to me. Gonna have Skinz78 help us out here. Ive asked to to take a look at this Thread.

The only thing I can think of is maybe I didn't acclimate it properly, are clams as delicate or more delicate than inverts? like peppermints? I think I just added some tank water to the bags last time and then put it in shortly after, didn't have any means of dripping.

Im in the process of setting up a new tank, I might give it another go once its established.

Try a Derasa and don't put it directly under the MH and acclimate it slowly into higher lighting.
