Keeping dead coral

So a shipment of my coral got delayed and everything came dead, I put it on my frag rack to hopefully have some regrow, should I keep them in there? I got the corals from a place that QTs for a month before shipping and has given me really healthy corals, should I be worried about an infection?

I had who's home check on the tank, everyone is active, had them give a tinny bit of food and the fish ate it right up. Hammer coral and trumpet coral still have color, my other corals are out and healthy.

Last night after having them in there for about six hours, 0 phosphate, and 1 ppm of nitrates, I do have nitrate media going to suck that up and keep in good.

Yup, those corals were not dead when the photos were taken. They could recover if the tank conditions are favorable for them. Leave them alone and wait. I hope they thrive.

+ 1 Might also consider adding something like Reef Snow for feeding, conditioning, etc. If that is a plate in second photo, it looks bad but I've seen them come back from a similar condition. Patience now

Thanks everyone, I fed phyto after taking tests. I was fighting an algae problem so I've been very hard on nitrates, I also feed heavy, might just be shooting into a long dead horse at this point though.

What parameters do you recommend for coral? I always hear a tank with high phos and nitrate is a neglected tank so I always strive for low nutrients and when I do get busy and they go up, my coral get very unhappy. Mainly my chalice, so I always keep pristine.

I always like a little nutrients in the tank, big difference in high nutrients. 5-10 nitrate and 0.02 phosphate is what our reef ran at. Every tank is different but i never liked bottoming out nutrients. Always tried to keep parameter swings at a minimum as well, stability is very important.

I've heard corals like xenias like the more nutrition but don't arcos and such hate nutrients in the water?

Not in my experience. Our acros and all other corals had the most color when some nutrients where in the water. We had fish and fed a lot while keeping up with husbandry for nutrient export as things can get out of hand quickly.

Alright, I can add coral food more frequently, gradually, just worried about my chalice since it was made a stink when it comes to nutrients.

Parameters play a role along with nutrients as well so please go slow! I'm not suggesting you change your methods but just explaining another way. We had high lighting with alk ranging from 9-10 dkh so nutrients were actually needed.

I agree. Those can recover. Give them time. Avoid moving them till they look nice and happy.

Thanks, I'll keep them on my frag rack for a few weeks. I am getting store credit though from the store which is nice, they always want to give you fully healthy corals so they are willing to help out. Hopefully this batch does make it though, even if it's just a few.
