Need some input....

I have always dosed Ca, Alk and Mg.

After getting an apex I noticed how low my ph was getting.

To try and bring up my ph I stated running Kalkwasser in my ATO and supplementing with dosing.

The problem I’m having now is that I can’t keep my numbers stable. Ph is up which is good going between 8.3 and 8.0. Before running the kalkwasser it was dropping down to below 7.7 after lights out and going up to about 8 during the peak.

Do you guys think I am better off dosing with stable numbers and a low ph or the opposite.

This is on a mixed reef total water volume around 40 gallons.

Thanks for the input.

Have you considered just dosing the kalk at night? A day-night pH swing is normal. Others may be more authoritative, but (i) your delta doesn’t seem crazy; (ii) I’d be more concerned about just making sure you don’t get lower than 7.7. Hence kalk at night.

Lotta ways to skin the cat.

Thanks for the response. No I hadn’t thought of that. That’s a really good idea. I would have a lot more control that way. Can’t believe I didn’t think of that.
