Keeping single clown?

I have kept them single and in pairs. In pairs I find that they got very territorial and usually stayed in that area in the tank. When they were the only clown they swam around more with the other fish. Something to consider if you want to see the clown fish. I have a pair that sit in an anemone which is great, I have another pair that hides in the back corner by the return. The pair in the anemone people see when they look at my tank. The pair in the back corner gets missed unless I am feeding or I point them out.

Thats good to know. Id rather the clown swim around a bit instead of being in a single place all day.

Can you keep just a single clown or would it be wise to have a pair?
I have only 2 firefish in my 25g tank at the moment and would like some more in there.
I would always add two. I think they are happier in a pair, and yes less change of the female (cause if you get one it will turn female) will go after the other fish! And yes they host weird things like heaters and pipes and stuff lol

From my experience clowns really don't swim all over the tank even single ones. They pick a place to “host” and will stay there. If they are in a corner its because they think whatever is over there is “hosting them”. Thats typical clownfish behavior and for them to wiggle up and down in a corner is just how they are haha goody fish

Clownfish won’t host pipes. Still just parasites. I guess unless you want to also include microbiome.

had a single more than once and only time ive seen one well behaved
I currently have 10 and can say they get along well especially with 4 breeder pair in the batch

You plumbed your tank incorrectly if pipes are going through fish.
No Im talking about the valves in the tank that return water from the sump, they are correctly in there. Those are what clowns host if they want to, like I said I have a pair that hosted that for a month before a BTA went in the tank. Might I point out that You also thought you can superglue nems and feed fish doritos so you might want to do some simple research before posting so you dont give the OP bad info.

But yes OP you can have one clown, I always have a pair because I love watching them bond and interact with eachother! Goofy fish for sure! If you have a single clown it will turn female when it reaches sexual maturity where as two will fight and squabble to determine who is going to be female, the most aggressive fish will be female and will start growing faster than the other who will be male. Their bonding behavior is very cool to see in your own aquarium!! ☺️

I’m just gonna hold out faith that you get there on your own. I dream of a world where no one says clownfish host pipes. Awww. To dare to dream.
