Hey guys i've been having a few problems around my store with my stainless steel cutters getting rusted over so badly they're hardly functional. has anyone got any tips on how to clean these things or how to better maintain them? thanks a ton!

after using them I rince mine in ro di water and dry them I had mine for a year and no signs of rust but I also don't use them every day and or week maybe 2 times a month. but to clean the rust off I was told that some companies will warranty from rust depending on the brand boston aquatics I was told would. I never looked into it so not 100% sure..

yes I made a call to a lfs they stated they do and to get the anodized ones they are better. then the stainless ones. he said just call boston aquatics direct and or take then back to the LFS you got them if you bought in town. if that helps any better.

We use rio coral clippers... I would never complain about those... 2 years and they still work fine... just a little rusty
Not all Stainless Steel is "Stainless" the higher the grade, the less it will corode. These pieces either have a layer of Stainless on them or are that of a lower grade.
Stainless Steel does not oxidize as fast as other iron alloys because like aluminum it is able to form a thin passive layer on top that prevent further corrosion.
When the passive layer is broken, more corrosion may take place. This is simmilar to waxing of chrome on a car and why it helps.
As mentioned, dipping them in RO/DI water will remove the salt, rub dry.
You can get rid of the rust by rubbing it with 0000 steel wool and using carnuba wax.
