I have a Waterbox 45.2 Platinum System - which I love. The only substantive concern I have is that I can't preclude the temperature swings and am concerned that with the cold temps setting in I am getting greater than a 2 degree swing. I have an APEX but have not controlled the heater with it, I am letting the 100watt (Cobalt Neo-Therm). The sump is small so I don't have a lot of room. Should I get another 100watt? I really thought that 100watt heater would be enough.

I was wondering if the notion of the Top Off Reservoir in the sump is causing some of the cool off since it isn't heated.

Never hurts to have dual heaters - I would 100% control them off of an apex outlet though - my temp fluctuation is 0.2 throughout the day with one heater. Best use for dual heaters is to have one set higher than the other so that they don't both run every time you need heat. Excessive on/off cycling of both heaters might be detrimental to their long-term use.

Keeping a tighter temp tolerance will also affect your heater life [on/off cycles]. I am willing to replace a $60 heater more often to have rock solid temperature all the time, but that's IMO of course.
