Ok you rimlesstank keepers with open tops, I need some advice. As you know I just got a rimless setup. After only ever having a top, how do you keep that top edge and the space between the edge and the water clean?

I've also came across this with the new tank and wanted to make a thread but never did. What works temporally for me is taking a towel and polish the top part clean with elbow grease.

Hoping for a better option.

This is what I do. No more rimless for me.

A quick swipe with a razor and all is clean. I keep a pretty good wave on the surface as well, and this seems to give me a little more time between cleanings. However, if you dose it tends to build up quicker. Especially Kalk

ive got that issue i dose 2500ml a day.

How's the evaporation with the rimless? Anyone have a lid on their rimless?
If you have a lid how do you keep it on?

Currently our 60g is rimless takes about a gallon per day. The central air keeps the house at a steady temp but once the wisconsin winter gets rolling the increased furnace use will ramp that up a bit.

If we not planning on upgrading I would defiantly look into some sort of cover. Not so much for evaporation, but more to keep off the floor and out of the overflow.

I had plexi-glass cut for mine. Two pieces for easy access. There are clips that go on the rim and hold the glass up. To keep the glass clean i just wipe it down with paper towel while I'm looking at the tank, helps keep me from fidgeting with something else that's probably better left alone.

I use one of those Mr. Clean Magic Eraser sponges. They work like a charm. Just be sure to get the "Original" kind ones as they have no chemicals. The other ones do.

I have a JBL Floaty Blade II which has a razor blade attached to it. I always use that to clean the top about once every two days, works like a charm! My next tank will also be rimless :)

I have a lid on my rimless. It's got the same foot print as a 40b but is taller. I just got a aqueon glass canopy and ordered and extra clear back plastic piece. I cut it to trim around the lid and then cut it again flush with the edge of the tank. We have cats so I had to do something and this did a decent job at preserving the rimless look.

I have a RS Reefer 350 and dont really clean that area - snails come out from water and makes miracles in this area. The edge of glass become dusty and wipe it weekly with a wet cloth.
