Kelvin and nano meter measurements

I'm by no means any expert in light measurement, but I have a question about measuring nm when looking at kelvin.

I understand that kelvin is the measurement of color hue and nm is measuring wave length radiation.

But when a bulb or led diode is stated to be 10000k in hue, how would you know its relative measure in nm?

I belive there's graphs that explain this, they are a little hard to understand.

When you're talking nm, then you need a graph that shows it like the left-hand chart, which shows relative intensity of all the colors to one another. It's an average or approximation.

The map on the right is the summary of how that color chart on the left actually looks.

Correct, I get all that. What I don't get, which is most likely irrelevant, is when a bulb is stated to be 10000k, what's is it in nm?

Is like an encyclopedia. You need individual vilumes to make a set.

By mixing light at different nm you create a kelvin temp. It's like a recipie.

One way of looking at the light is (like Salty said) looking at the recipe for "how that light is made".
The other way of looking at light is like tasting the recipe to see how all the ingredients taste together.

There's no conversion. :)
 
There's something called 'dominant wavelength' that describes the spectral peak (which usually would suggest dominant bandwidth.) This would be readily apparent when viewing the spectral power distribution chart. There are many ways to achieve a rating of, say, 10,000 K, hence, the dominant wavelength is about as close as you can get to a nm rating of any K lamp.
