you have me leaning on the colt, ph is stable? All the mumbo jumbo about caco3 would have me thinking that your rock would make ph fluctuate and have a low alkalinity but it looks to me your tank is thriving. The rock leaching would be a hyphthesis for your phosphates but thats nothing your gfo can't fix. How would you feel about upgrading to a Brs dual reactor for gfo and gac?

ph goes from 8.25 in the daytime to 7.8 at night I would like to level that out by lighting my fuge opposite of my display but right now I cant because it is hob and it lights my tank also, alk I have never measured, calc is very reliable at 440ppm I keep my temp between 80.5 and 81.5. the chemi-pure product is a phos remover and I run 2 aquatop reactors now the other is carbon. my only issue is there is no more room in my sump so my reactors have to sit on the floor behind the sump and CANNOT leak, the aquatops have been the best so far at the not leaking part (I live in a loft and its carpet and there are other tenants below and beside so no room for floods)

Ph swings from day to night is normal I wouldn't worry to much about that. I know chemipure is a phosphate remover but pretty expensive. Gfo would last longer. This is my brs dual reacted, I mounted on the wall behind the tank

Leak free. If your firmiliar with rodi units it's the same reacter. As long as you screw it on right your fine

I had one that was about the size of my hand but he didn't make it through the move, I just got a new one into the tank a month or so ago. I like them because they are great at cutting down gha and they are so peaceful. I have had very good luck with orange shoulder and sailfins. the sailfin is also a smaller slow grower so for my 55 they do well. I will say that I recommend buying them once they are past the yellow juvenile stage as I haven't had much luck with survival rates

ok thats good to know. Ive heard alot of people saying there aggressive but that might be towards other tangs. I have a yellow tang right now. I might have under sized the fish i was talking about he's got the adult coloring but not as big as i usually see them there.

the one I have now is between 3 and 4 inches so I don't know how size works with the juvenile color change thing, I have never tried mixing tangs so I don't know how a yellow and a sailfin will do they are different enough they may be fine but the sailfin will be much larger in the end maybe if you take the yellow out for a bit then add them at the same time it could work ? the science of tang mixing has always scared me

My yellows doing really well, i don't know if i want to disturb him. Im probably just going to go with my second choice.Harem of Mccoskers flasher wrasse.
